WOW Cataclysm Review

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is the latest expansion to the very popular online game World of Warcraft. The Cataclysm was out in the stores on 7th of December and many people were impatiently waiting in line for the clock to show 00.00 and the doors to open so they can go and grab their copies and go home to play and see what Blizzard has prepared for them. What they got was beyond expectations. New zones, new races, new spells … but let’s start describing it one by one:

Level cap was increased from 80 to 85 – with every major patch we get new level cap to get to and players were really looking forward to the new adventures on the way to level 85. New quests, new dungeons – Blizzard delivered it all and more.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm brought 5 new zones for those players with characters above level 80. These new zones become gradually more difficult so you can get to level 85 as quickly as possible while having as much fun as possible. At the same time, all the old zones have received major revamp since the major event of this expansion is the arrival of Deathwing, the Aspect of Death to the world of Azeroth. He brings destruction, massive lava eruptions and rivers of molten fire. However, the nature is always in balance and so the world of Azeroth changed – where before was life, now there is death and destruction but there is also new life where before was nothing. As result of these large scale changes, many quests have been redone, many new quest hubs have been added and many new creatures and NPC appeared to help players on their adventure in the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Two new races were discovered and joined the forces of Alliance and Horde – one for each side. For the Alliance the forgotten city of Gilneas came into the light and the Worgen came out to seek allies and help the Alliance forces fight the evil in the name of all good and honorable. For the Horde – the cheeky Goblins from Kezan joined forces with the Horde and promised to aid them with their explosives and knowledge of how to make things… well… blow up.

In times of dire need the races become even more flexible and open for new knowledge, so the Cataclysm brought new classes available for some of the races which they did not have before. For example – humans can now be hunters, dwarves can be shamans and gnomes can be priests. When the world’s existence is in danger, every man is needed and every class is important, so the races trained those new classes to ensure the survival of the world of Azeroth.

During the Cataclysm new life was discovered with many new beasts and creatures. New herbs and ore nodes also appeared on the world of Azeroth to aid the crafters by providing materials for new and even more powerful weapons, armor and alchemy mixtures.

What players probably enjoy most is the new spells and abilities they got, together with the revamped talent tree and the way talent trees work. Before, you had to be level 40 or even higher to notice the first noticeable difference from specialization to specialization and to get your specialization specific spells. With Cataclysm out, this is no longer so. Players now get to choose their specialization and immediately receive several spells which are specific for this specialization.

This is only a small fracture of all the new and exciting things World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has for you, so the only thing left to do is go get it – if you haven’t already.
