The easiest way to make in game gold in World of Warcraft, at least in my opinion is through buying and selling items to other players. By buying, I of course mean knowing when something is cheaper than it costs so you can resell it later on for a nice profit. As the in game trade pretty much resembles the real life situation, your goals again will be to make customers, make these customers happy and preferably to make them come back again for more purchases.
In World of Warcraft the main exchange tool is the Auction House. Each race has one Auction House located in its respective capital city – for example Humans have Auction House in Stormwind, Tauren – auction house in Thunder Buff. Each faction Auction Houses are linked to one another, meaning that an Alliance players will see same items in all Alliance auction houses, no matter from which town they are viewing it. Same goes for the Horde. Additionally, there are 3 neutral Auction Houses ran my goblins in Booty Bay, Everlook and Gadzestan. While the faction specific Auction Houses allow only players from the specific factions to view and use it, the neutral Auction Houses welcome everyone. This makes neutral Auction Houses the only way for players from opposing factions to trade. So, what is so good about the Auction House?
The nifty feature that Auction House features is the fact that your items will be listed for sale and available even when you are offline. This way, even if you are not playing you are still making money. You lose a small percentage from your profit as Auction House cut, but it is well worth – after all, no one can stay awake forever trying to sell their items by linking in the trade channel. Here is a good tip though – if you are planning to be online for the next couple of hours, you can link your items in trade and see if you can find a buyer that way. Saving some coins is possible, but don’t forget to list all your items for sale before you log off. You can choose 48 hours listing, which in my opinion is the best choice – you will need to list items no more than 3-4 times a week then, which is easy thing to do.
Learning how to make money on the Auction House has a short learning curve, but once you have mastered it, the gold will keep pouring into your pockets. You will need an addon such as Auctioneer for example, which can scan and remember the prices for everything on the Auction House. Once the scan is completed, you can also view which items are listed for sale for prices much lower than the median price – this is where your chance of making gold is. Buy such items and put them back for sale for higher price and make a nice profit.
Another good trick is to check for items that are listed in stacks. Sometimes, such items can be sold for more per single piece, as players will rarely need 20 of item A and will be happy to pay a few gold pieces more for buying just 1 of the items and not all 20 of them. Such items are enchanting materials, Eternals, scrolls with enchants, glyphs, volatile elements and alike.

Keeping your prices reasonable will often result in more sales and more profit than if you try to make a lot of gold on just couple of items. Don’t forget you can always undercut a bit the listings of other people, however making a quick sale will not always mean you made the best deal possible, so explore, try and learn how to use the Auction House properly and you will see your pockets filled with in game World of Warcraft gold in no time !
