WOW Engineering Guide

World of Warcraft Engineering Guide

Engineering is one of the primary crafting professions. Each player can have only two primary professions at any given time. Engineers create various items – some of them are really useful, other items are for fun and some items are just not understandable for those players who do not have Engineering and cannot understand what it is all about. Engineers can create many fun items used both in PvP and PvE situations but most of them do require engineering skill to use even if they are not bind on pick up. As the first engineers in the world of Azeroth were the gnomes and the goblins, it’s not unexpected fact that most of their unique designs and creation can lead to weird results to say at least with unpredictable outcome.

Some items are quite useful for some classes, for example hunters benefit a lot from the scopes engineers can create to add additional bonuses to ranged weapons. Engineers are also able to write down recipes for other professions – for example Goblin Rocket Fuel recipe for alchemists to learn. Mana and Health Potions injectors are also useful as they save a lot of space in the inventory.

The most popular item created by Engineers is perhaps the field repair bot. The field repair bots come in few designs but their purpose is the same – to provide repair options to the entire group or raid when away from town and no access to repair vendors. Repair bots can also provide some much need field materials and ingredients.

Second in popularity if not even first are the mounts Engineers can create by using their special knowledge of technology – Mekgineer’s Chopper for the Alliance and for the Horde – Mechano-hog. The materials needed in order to create these 2 special motorbikes are not really cheap but players collect them and ask their engineering friends to craft them anyway as everyone enjoys being different and those bikes are just so cool!

Engineers benefit from special items called goggles – headpieces available to the engineers at lower level compared to other loot of the same quality. For example loot with quality of level 70 items is available to the engineers at level 62. Even though it’s just one piece of their gear it’s still quite nice early bonus to help them level up quicker.

Engineering profession is fun, but expensive to skill up since you need various materials from other professions as well as parts you create yourself with Engineering. There are several guides out there whose authors claim that they can show you the optimal way to get from skill 1 to 525 in a cheapest and most effective way possible, however my personal experience shows that they are not always completely correct. On other hand, if you try to just run around alone trying to figure things out you will most likely end up spending a lot more money before you get to 525 Engineering skill, so here are some of the places you might want to check out before starting, just so you have general idea what to expect:

You will most likely notice that to huge extent the 2 lists are identical, but once you try to skill up your Engineering you will notice that sometimes things do not go as planned and you need a few more of this or that. It cannot be any other way – after all, Engineering is most of the time about things going not as planned – which is why both Gnomes and Goblin love it so much.
